‘asking crypto-art to transcend the market and speculation is like asking video art to transcend the screen.’
A token. Ten lenses. Six months. Everything that happens to it becomes part of the work.
A crypto-art readymade and post-speculation work, with no concept needed beyond what it is: a token, and the angels inside its 6-month schizo-blockchain myth.
END GAME is a six-month body of work that condenses nearly a decade of Atay Ilgun’s thinking around crypto, digital art, speculation, memes, value, legitimacy, and the recurring suspicion of the ‘artist as a scammer’ into a single unfolding system.
the end game
In chess, the endgame is what remains when most of the pieces are gone and every move left is exposed. END GAME begins after crypto-art has already tried everything: decentralisation, speculation, communities, roadmaps, utility, conceptual legitimacy. There isn’t another clean ideological position left to announce, so we put the machine on the table and let it run.
the angel
Collectors enter the mythology as angels. An angel is someone who keeps caring after the reasons to care have been exhausted: anyone willing to take a position after there is nothing left to promise. Not a saviour from the market — a witness inside it.
